Art Relief Program
It's time for action! Join us!

Background
Formerly the Canvas Art Program, Art Relief International is a new artistic outreach organization that works with a wide range of social groups and humanitarian organizations in Chiang Mai. It was created by Cultural Canvas Thailand to approach volunteerism through a creative lens.
Philosophy
"If a voice can't be heard, teach it to be seen"- Emily Scott, Former Art DirectorArt Relief International provides a VOICE for individuals by exploring various creative means, including visual, performance and experimental arts.
We believe that art is a powerful tool for change. Our mission for Art Relief International is to promote expression and cultivate the creativity that lies inside each individual. We use art to create an atmosphere of inclusion and belonging where often there is none. Art is used as a catalyst for releasing and challenging personal and societal stresses whilst encouraging cultural changes and awareness.

Volunteer
Art Relief International is looking for volunteers from a wide-range of backgrounds and experiences. The only requirement is an enthusiasm for what we do and an appreciation of the arts as a tool for social change. There are opportunities for art therapists, musicians, writers, office assistants, and everything in between.
Art Relief International volunteers can expect to play a large role with many projects. Unlike other volunteer placements, the art program works with a diversity of groups that focus on a variety of social issues. The volunteer will have an opportunity to work with various populations including: Burmese refugees, indigenous hill tribes groups, and children from a local orphanage. This opportunity is ideal for someone who likes to be involved in numerous projects and can work independently as well as with a group. There are opportunities to work with other local artists on projects as well as design and implement your own creative visions. If you prefer to be more behind the scenes, there are also opportunities for curriculum development and grant writing.
